Take a moment to see your reflection. Breathe deeply and slowly. Allow yourself to see who you are: a beautiful soul deserving of compassion. Now look past your reflection and see your ancestors, your neighbors, your coworkers, also deserving of compassion.
Dalikamata is the Bisayan goddess of healing, clairvoyance and the compassionate caretaker of humanity. She bears hundreds of eyes all over her body that can see past, present and future; eyes that see all and know all. At night, she weeps for the wrongdoings and suffering of mankind. In the softness of the early hours, her tears are the morning dew. Babaylans would collect the dew to use as medicine in healing formulas and for resolving ailments of the eyes.
Dalikamata is prayed to by those with eye problems, healers and seers. Those who cause ill to others are fearful that Dalikamata may take away their sight. She is invoked when asking for messages in dreams and divination. By day, her emblems are the eyes in the wings of the butterfly; by night, the owl.
Aquarius, the sign of the inspired mind, is a visionary that sees the value of the group as a reflection of the self. Progressive, forward-thinking and brilliant, Aquarius utilizes their quick wit to bring ideas to society that innovate and benefit the collective.
Dalikamata and Aquarius share that same quality of consideration. With their unique ability to extend their compassion beyond the boundaries of self, they both focus on the holistic health of their communities. This month, it is a perfect time to drop into yourself, see yourself with compassion, and discover your contribution to your larger community. Take stock of how you weave your threads into the tapestry of life.
