Stephanie Gancayco (they/she) is a creative director, designer, stylist, and event curator whose work is rooted in bridge-building, healing, and community. Born and raised in the Bay (ESSJ 408 what up) and currently based in Oakland, she spent nearly a decade in the NY fashion industry working with leading designers such as Anna Sui, and her work has been featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and on NBC Asian America. Since 2016, she has collaborated with Indigenous women artisans in the Philippines to incorporate ancestral techniques and textiles into contemporary ready-to-wear with her brand HALIYA (which miiiight be relaunching in late 2021, who knows who knows).
In their spare time (lol), Steph enjoys bruha things, reading, digging for rare jams, snuggling their doggies, meditating, anime-ing, and getting hyphy.
Stephanie is a 2019 Maynard 200 National Journalism Fellow in Media Entrepreneurship.
